Glimmering by Garlands
My son Kenji and I have been creating musical vulneraries together since my late wife (and Kenji’s mother) Anne Garland began treatments for cancer in 2018. Vulnerary is an archaic term for a medication — herb, balm or, in this case, music — used to promote healing. Here at the end of 2020, a year of extraordinary stress for everyone, we all need healing. “Glimmering” is meant to simultaneously relax and energize the listener. With our special tandem set-up of interconnected 12-string guitar and modular synthesizer, we explore, at the pace of calm breathing, the opulent vibrations of an F major 7th chord.
