Turning down a familiar road
Hear the rush of the Rayado
Flowing down from way up in the hills

Don’t know how long its been
Each spring I think of home again
Just keep right on revelling - i guess i always will

Every year that you get older
Just takes the smell of wet sage
To bring you right back there again
Being 21 under the Cimarron sun]

Just two young bucks testing our strength
Buck the stalls until they break
Shake the bridle till the reins finally came undone

Lonely runs across the canyon
I was just a boy almost a man then
And when I met you I knew then I was not the only one


[Nights we spent out in Red River
Out on the porch it’d make me shiver
Smoking cigarettes till the early morn
