There’s a stray cat who hangs outside my window at night and moans like a child
But that don’t disturb me none the frequencies from the chemical trucks keep me awake
I try to wash out the sound with my Walkman radio but my thoughts still echo loud
So I head toward the whirling mechanical sound still in my nightgown

This town seems quite calm
As the cars roll by on the partial cobble stone
On the partially paved road
Where the apple trees are lined on either side
Well I call it home they call it
Marlboro smoke a migrant’s daughter
Mumbled to me her lips barely formed words
But I could read her breath
In the January air
What a curious kid this classmate of mine
She could see the other side through her
Technicolor eyes and her telepathic mind
She walked…

She walked through cemeteries after dark
And she’s seen the sights of Bloody Mary
Through the mirror on her medicine cabinet
Through the reflection given from the candles she lit
Standing tiptoe barefoot on her glowing
Ouija Board

This town seems quite calm
Until you open your eyes to see the other side
Raise your head to the sky see the flying saucer glow
And hear spirits and angels whisper in stereo
Call me a big brave dog
Call me a scaredy cat in the dark

Cause I walked
Through apple orchards after dark
With my friends
With torches overhead
And I’ve seen no sight of Bloody Mary
Standing tiptoe barefoot on my pitch black Ouija Board
