Belonging by Dani Treble

My first album is finally here. The first meaningful set of 10 full songs in 25 years of playing. For most of my life, I thought I would play music professionally, and for a long time in my head both college and work seemed like a temporary solution until I "succeed" in playing something. From today's perspective, at the age of 33 and with a 10-year career in IT, I understand how unrealistic and dishonest it was on my part. Everyone who knows me or has played with me at some point in my life, knows that I always avoided playing anything that was not my own original material. From acoustic chords to popular songs, covers with a band - all of this always seemed to me like a side activity or a necessary evil before "real" music. Today it is perfectly clear to me how detached it is from the reality of a professional career as a guitarist or musician, and I have finally accepted that it is actually my hobby.

Ever since I could hardly see over the bulky body of a classical guitar at the age of 7-8, I would skip the compositions that my teachers would give me for homework and look for more "interesting" songs to play or (a little later) I would bang Nirvana on the plastic strings.

I had various realistic and unrealistic excuses why, if I already avoid playing other people's music, I don't record and release my original work. Because of the genres of music that I have preferred for a long time, it has always been all about bands. The reasons were different - from the real lack of financial conditions and space, the impossibility of finding band members to the unrealistic lack of free time... That changed when I came across an episode of Against the Clock on YouTube with Tim Green in the lead role, which opened up a whole new one for me the world of electronic music that wasn't classic radio EDM. I discovered a bunch of performers who combine classical instruments and modern electronics, mostly in my favorite, instrumental form, such as Bonobo, Nils Frahm, George Fitzgerald, Four Tet and others. I started learning production techniques and gradually acquiring the equipment so that I could get solid results at home. I released about 10 singles of that style and decided it was finally time to make a full album. Of course, I was haunted by excuses again - it's better to release one single at a time because it's better for the algorithm, you need to do video content and short clips on social networks to gain an audience, who will even listen - you're better at the guitar thing, etc. The difference is that this time it was a hobby.
And so in the period from 2022-2024, in which I probably had the least free time ever and the lowest annual average of undisturbed sleep (#dadvibes), the album Belonging was created.

Project manager by day, musician by night. I've been playing guitar my whole life, solo, in various bands, always writing new songs. It's been a dream of mine for a long long time to be able to produce music on my own, and finally at the age of 30 I released my very first single Strut.
My only goal is to induce in others the same emotions I get when listening to my favorite artists.
