TAEKO SZEDLÁK-OSHIMA (Piano)

Taeko Szedlák-Oshima was born in Tokyo, Japan, where she attended the Toho Music High School. She then studied under Edith Picht-Axenfeld and Tibor Hazay at the State University of Music in Freiburg im Breisgau. She participated in chamber music classes with Aurèle Nicolet, Marcel Cervera, and Wolfgang Marschner and won several competitions, including the gold medal at the International Piano Competition in Epinal. In 1976, she was awarded the title of best chamber musician at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Taeko Szedlák-Oshima maintains an active concert schedule in Japan and Europe as both a soloist and with chamber music ensembles. For many years, she served as a piano educator at the Music Academy of the City of Basel, the Bern Conservatory, and the Köniz Music School.

All the albums on this site belong to a deeply cherished personal collection, now shared with the public for the very first time. My hope is to offer a uniquely personal musical journey—a celebration of the extraordinary beauty found in Violin Short Pieces of the Nations. Each composition, lasting only three to five minutes, captures a world of memories, emotions, shadows, and light, distilling a lifetime of sentiment into a fleeting moment.

Many of these remarkable works have faded into obscurity over time, and it is my great joy to bring them back to life, allowing them to resonate once more in the present day. Since all production stages of these albums are home-made, I apologize for any occasional technical editing imperfections that may be heard here and there.
