Social Music by Daniel Cano
Miles Davis rejected the word “jazz” preferring the term “Social Music - all the social melodies out in the air.” This cryptic statement, as if asserted by an oracle, is the inspiration which drives this work; guided predominantly by intuition whilst still preserving the bonds which deeply connect me to the tradition of this art.
Miles Davis rechazaba la palabra “jazz” en favor de “Social Music - todas las melodías sociales que están en el aire”. Esta críptica sentencia, como si de la afirmación de un oráculo se tratase, es la inspiración que conduce este trabajo; guiado mayormente por mi intuición y sin perder los lazos que me unen profundamente a la tradición de este arte.

Daniel Cano is a trumpeter and composer based in Spain. For ten years (2014-24) he lived in the UK, and has performed at such venues as Ronnie Scott’s, Cafe Oto, Vortex Jazz Club, as well as the Tangier, San Sebastian, Seville Jazz Festivals, with artists such as Doug Sides, Paco Charlín, Chris Kase, Dick Pearce, Evan Parker, Harris Eisenstadt, Maggie Nicols, and the London Improvisers Orchestra.
