Lyrics
When you're tired of creating and you wanna consume a little
When the crawling card's killing your culture
There's a Walmart in the middle
When every time you find some meaning in your mind
The train of thought gets all derailed by the autoplay of the next episode
And all your comfortable illusions of free will just start imploding
From politics to Twitter polls to GPA to voting
From cancel culture effigies to "hi I'll have the number three
and make that Coke diet cause I'm counting all my calories"
Yeah you know you've had a good long hard day's work
When you click post on the image
Of that beach in San Destin where the lessons all sound like the pillars of business
Read their eyes, look alive, don't waste time
Never for a second give impressions off that you're not on the grind
No I've never seen the sun rising over all the trees
And I've never done something for another human being
But I don't need to know myself to know my self esteem
And my bitmoji's twenty streaks is plenty enough love for me
And I send my kids to school
And in their lunchbox I always pack
Gushers and Fruit Rollups
Cosmic Brownies and Coco Puffs
And they start breaking all the rules
Hyper sugar high acting a fool
They must have ADHD
Take this Ritalin baby
These pills will make you happy
So you can be just another numb comfortable drone like me
When you're a martyr for your own dead life but you've got to keep a living appearance
And you post your political opinion cause everybody's dying to hear it
And the punchline's getting less funny cause you stole all your jokes
from somebody with more money
do you get it?
You better hope you're a glitch in a computer simulation
Cause there's millions just like you you're a cutout iteration
And all your modern comforts have brought you alienation
And I'll bet those YouTube videos can't bring you motivation
And in an ancient peasant's eyes you're living like a king
With your GrubHub and your Hulu and Amazon delivery
But even overnight shipping can't make you feel free
And at least the fucking peasant's living in the name of something
My kids are getting raised by an iPad
And I never let them go to the playground alone
And I'll answer their questions for them
And I make them turn on their location
And I'll never ever spank them
And they'll get whatever they ask for
Unless it's careful listening which I don't have time for
And they can't drink beer quite yet
But I paid for it eat your damn Big Mac
And I wonder why when they grew up
They couldn't hold basic conversations
And the only solution I know of
Therapy will cure their frustrations
When you're tired of being controlled and you wanna control a little
