Beige is an unfiltered exploration of Curtiss King’s roots, shedding the polished persona to reveal raw emotions and stories. Inspired by the term "Beige Rage," this EP represents Curtiss King’s journey back to his unapologetically West Coast roots. With a sound rooted in soulful West Coast Boom Bap & R&B, the project is aggressive, honest, and vulnerable, thanks to the collaborative influence of Iman Omari. Iman, who produced, engineered, and featured on the project, pushed Curtiss King to break free from his comfort zone, challenging him to reconnect with his Carson, CA origins.
The EP delves into themes of betrayal, self-reflection, and cultural pride across its tracks. "Way Out" confronts disloyalty with humor and accountability, "Put Down Your Phone" addresses the impact of social media on self-worth, and "The Chilli" celebrates the often overlooked stories of West Coast life. Each track is a testament to a more mature, brash, and vulnerable Curtiss King, marking a fresh start in his career as he approaches 40. Beige is not just an EP; it’s a bold statement, reminding listeners of the authenticity and strength that comes from embracing one’s true self.
