MDN (we/they/them) is a composer, designer, and educator based in Brooklyn, NY, who creates music and visuals through a live coding practice. Their work is wide-ranging, varied and exploratory, driven by experimentation with different concepts and limitations.
In the composition “black_hole,” full of slow shimmer and wide-eyed resonance, M addresses near-death experiences during childhood and the hypothesis that "all beings are singularity material." Collapsing into that point over two live-code sessions—with Orca, OP-1, and Hydra video synth—MDN gently spreads the fabric of the universe and the fabric of memory.
They describe the result as "...a spell about a dance with a black hole."
"...feels like travelling through and being lost in [a black hole]." -The FFFoxy Podcast
"...superbly interesting and memorable." -The Daily Vault
"Happy and vast music from the brink…" -Obladada
"A vast space of cosmic expanse removed from stars' light." -Lost in a Sea of Sound
"Your decency remains unimpaired, your virility unharmed, your person is free from any degrading submission, but in your hand is a tambourine." -Seneca
