Lattices by Cotter Koopman

These are patterns of impossible player-piano music, coded in ORCA—Instead of writing and playing this music, I wrote rules that interacted to generate it alone from pools of notes. As a result, rhythms are often derived from modular arithmetic, polymeters, and "Euclidean" divisions, and melodies are derived from the interlocking patterns they form. Each track is named for an ORCA letter-operator central to its mechanics.
