Lyrics
Who am I?
Who has the right to do what I have done –
to put a family on my back and go slogging through the mud?
When did I
start to lose the fight for who I was?
All the battles, lost and won, have left me high and dry
and slowly I have come undone.
How can I
save a face that never was enough –
a back that crumbled when the rough and tumble came to visit us?
Where did I
lose restraint and find an angry tongue?
After all is said and done, I hope I’m satisfied
with all the filth I muster up.
What can I
sing that someone better hasn’t sung?
The twelve bar blues have been done to death; a primal scream
would leave me dumb.
Why do I
insist on writing until I draw blood?
I work my fingers to the bone and all I have to show
are crimson hands and three-leaf luck
