She wrings out her curls and watches it swirl down the drain.
She thinks about Hitchcock and counts up the rings on the curtain,
slips off her diamond and mutters that she's not to blame.

Carla towels off and she takes her time putting on makeup,
picks up a phone, takes a breath, and counts backwards from ten.
She tells them the story and leaves everything in position;
that boy's never gonna hit little Carlita again

Carla awakes from a dream to a sound in her driveway –
a sputtering engine that cuts right in front of her door.
The hinges creak open and Carla is plastered in streetlight.
She springs from sofa and sprints for the knife in the drawer.
