Alright, assholes! Put down the dildos, the gimp masks, crackpipes, and Erasure live DVDs and get ready for another slab of strange, nihilistic, deformed filthy heaviness shat out from the bowels of Weymouth, Massachusetts.
CONTINUED WITHOUT A FINDING were a trio of Weymouth musicians bent on continuing the degenerate local tradition, i.e. bringing a unique, off-putting, and fucking DAMAGING set of heavy tunes to the table. Their sadly overlooked CD "Cropduster" offers up quite the variety of twisted riffage; you want some face-pounding, fist-like slow caveman riffs? Got 'em. In the mood for disorienting, cavernous, heavy psychedelic noise and squealing feedback passages? They're here. Grimey, grungy, stuttered off-time sludge episodes that simultaneously punish and confuse? Snarled, harsh pissed-off vocal delivery? Stop-on-a-dime departures into blinding hardcore and grind territory? Irresistible r&b hooks with an uncanny pop sensibility? OK.... this is becoming silly but you get my point.
If your brain is scorched from sniffing glue with trannies in the back of Tedeschi's and you couldn't understand that last paragraph, "Cropduster" could best be summarized as the work a demolition-like power trio whose tunes incorporated elements of grindcore, doom, sludge, hardcore, experimental weirdness, downtuned rock, and psychedelic noise fuckery in ANY quantity at any given moment. There are detectable traces of other defunct Weymouth outfits in their sound - the drummer here is John Gillis of KEVORKIAN'S ANGELS (and Anal Cunt, Today Is The Day, plus more!) who contributes his lightning fast, skittery, yet completely solid drumming style and the guitarist Tom Walsh often pays homage to the delay-drenched guitar-mutilation-over-heavy-sludge-beats of the indirectly-related Weymouth abortions known as NIGHTSTICK. Brad Fletcher, also of Kevorkian's Angels "fame", rounds out the line-up with his cynical, mid-pitched, raspy barks and grinding bass.
On a more anal note, while the boomy mixdown and low guitar volume limits the damaging nature of the tunes at times, don't let that deter you fuckers! This CD should get more exposure in the future than it has already, and if all heavier underground bands made a point to whip up truly original and freely-shifting stylistic combos like this, the world would be a better place.... for us, at least.
