The scales were always balanced against Norman
he didn't have the drive to be a foreman (yet alone a manager)
his mother had always pushed him to the limit
she had a large old wooden trunk and locked him in it
(until he did his homework)
so it's hardly very surprising
that when Norman saw the sun rising
with an empty head and a gun packed full of bullets
he blasted his mum away
in the combat jacket that he bought from Millets
when he went on holiday to Cornwall
the year before they rented that mobile home in the lake district (or was it the peak district?)
it doesn't really matter, that's not relevant.
(and nor is an elephant).
