19 Candidates by cmcavoy

2019 was a creative year for me, but also scattered. I broadcast on Twitch as the cmcavoy VHS and Noise show semi-regularly, but never landed on a theme sound-wise that felt like a coherent choice for a multi-track release. Towards the end of summer I made a folder on my hard drive called "19 Album Candidates" to try to focus the output into a short album. This release collects several of those tracks, a few excerpts from VHS and Noise shows and one beat I found on my OP-1 tape as a bonus.

The theme that did emerge was less about sound and more about choice. This collection of tracks use a variety of generative and random methods compositionally. When I recorded them, they felt like experiments more than material I'd release.

Consider this a collection of questions I've asked my process that I haven't answered yet.

These tracks were recorded in late 2019 using a variety of instruments - Make Noise shared system, VCV Rack, Madrona Aalto, Teenage Engineering OP-1 and the Orca sequencer.
