Lemons, Tar Sands, and Potatoes.
Continuing the Gastropop legacy that began with Dolphin Meat.
This little ditty reinvents the Caribbean simulacrum into a meditation on dirty oil and a twist on folk music standards. It does not paint a solution to the aforementioned, but rather states the emphatic obvious.
Sacrificial images to keep in mind: Lemon-Potato Mash thrown into an active tar sand excavation.
OR
An oil tanker spilling, after crashing into another large container ship carrying lemons and potatoes.
The song also commemorates the potato grower George Good, 1942-2015, of South Tetagouche, N.B.
His potato boxes became an indispensable part of the recording process.
