Music for the show - About Ruthelle's - Paintings From The New Kansas City Jazz Hall Of Fame at Leedy Voulkos Art Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Each piece corresponds with a portrait in the show depicting a KC jazz great. A detail of the painting is included with each tune.
The KC Jazz Hall of Fame will be housed at Ruthelle's Café and Club, a new music, barbecue and art center in the heart of the Jazz District at 18th and Vine. Ruthelle Winkfield was a hair salon owner and sometime jazz singer. Adam Jones has renovated the building and is working with prominent architects, artists, musicians, chefs and the community at large to bring another valuable asset back to life.
Special thanks go to Chuck Haddix, Director of the Marr Sound Archive at the University of Missouri at Kansas City for the extraordinary jazz history research and for making this possible with cuts from the archive.
