Revisions by Clea Anaïs

“Revisions” is about gaslighting. The song describes the intimate beauty observable in those we love, while alluding to the same person's darkness, mutability, and ability to manipulate. The listener can observe red flags from outside the relationship, “You wanted to keep the control, you said you loved me, said we were chasing the gold, but your eyes, they stayed shaded”, but from within there is a self-questioning that persists alongside a desire to discover where things went wrong. Constantly revising the past, aiming to capture the truth, and to understand pivotal moments, feed the doubt and uncertainty, “I fold over revision, revision, revision, revision… and in each version I ask what could have been”. The answers however, are held in the hands of the other.
