Houses for hills, and streets for canyons,
Sewers for rivers, and curbs for cliffs,
Tidy lawns as our forests,
And doorways as our caves.

Shopping malls as our oceans,
Airplanes as our stars,
Bombs instead of birds,
And landfills as our graves.

We’re aliens on our own planet.
We talk about earth like it’s some distant place
We’re trying our best to save,
As if one day we can escape.
And who are “they” who made us all slaves?

Cement for soil, and plastic for people,
Cigarettes scattered like seeds,
Money for blood, and phones and guns
Instead of face to face.
