This song is built on a set of mistruths and contradictions that form the basis of every relationship that turns toxic, as the the lifeblood drains from something once beautiful into a pitched battle of selfish lies and excuses, always giving the blame and taking none of it for yourself. Everyone has been there, but every time it happens it gives off these uniquely painful vibes that make you think that you alone in all of human history could have suffered this most miserable of fates. But here we are, living through this together.
