Second Sight by CHXMERAS

Second Sight is built upon two years of experimentation, live performance, field recordings, improvisation, and recombinant composition techniques. It is both a record and a reckoning with the wild, furious, anything goes, free-for-all, freefall present and an anticipatory call toward distorted, broken futures.

Album opener “Sublimation” album leaps out of the gate: it’s driving, overwhelming, and always on the edge of breaking down. The track channels the feeling of being hurtled inevitably through space toward an unknown destination and unknowable outcomes. "'Sublimation' is about trying to capture the frenetic energy and anxieties swirling around us”, the band says, “and taking their power back before everything cascades fully out of control”.

Second Sight is a 27-minute flight through intricately arranged rhythms, bit-crushed melodies, and modulated fragments of a post-rave, post-club world.

Three of the tracks—“Sublimation”, “Armour Up”, and “Formline”—have roots in extended improvisations and live performances, while the remaining cuts—“Maelstrom” and “Second Sight”—evolved through polymorphic re-sampling and deep dives into rhythmic, percussive hypnosis.

Where their debut album, Terminal City, was steeped in haunted landscapes, urban decay and echoes of faded wastelands, Second Sight is about standing face-to-face with the immediacy and uncertainty of crisis—where sonic premonitions of the future don't just arrive, they accelerate toward you in real-time.
