Ever Forward by Chronology Music

Frank Southecorvo (Alto/Tenor/Baritone Saxophones) and Bryan White (Double Bass) have been making music together in the Asheville area for over 16 years, with two notable original bands - 'Done For The Evening' (2006-2010) and now 'Up Jumped Three', which was founded in 2013.

Though they both have played many 'standards' gigs together as a straight sax/bass duo in the past decade plus, the creation of a formal duo project to showcase a different set of original compositions with expanded instrumentation and production is something that has always been proposed, but never executed till now. Featured here are compositions old (some written 20+ years ago), and new - written over the course of the last year.

The early portions of the album were recorded remotely during the COVID 'lockdown', sending sessions and files back and forth for completion in separate home studios, and are more 'studio oriented' in terms of layers of instruments and production. In late February 2021, when it was safe to begin working again together in-person, a series of live-in-studio sessions were done over the course of most of March and early April, and those sessions comprise the more 'straight ahead' tunes on the album. The resulting collection is a pleasant balance of nuanced production and arranging, with multiple horns and electric & upright bass on several tracks, contrasted with only straight bass & sax on others.
