Intelligenza Artigianale is the electro-focused side project of Pierlo, co-founder of the long-running netlabel Upitup Records (est. 2003). Based across multiple cities over the years and currently part of the Distant Future Association, the project explores machine-driven grooves and analog textures with a human touch. While Pierlo’s work spans various styles, Intelligenza Artigianale hones in on deep, rhythmic electro with a focus on raw synthesis and structured beats.
Marking a significant chapter in the evolution of Intelligenza Artigianale, Intermind Broadcast is a retrospective and a progression—bringing together a selection of previously released material alongside new compositions crafted over the past four years, reflecting a sound shaped by constant movement, adaptation, and deep personal transformation; a broad exploration of synthetic sound design, rhythm, and emotion, drawing from a palette shaped by electro, IDM, ambient, and experimental techno.

Having relocated across continents multiple times over the past two decades, this work is imbued with a sense of transition and shifting identity. Each track is a kind of transmission—a coded message from a different place and time, echoing the emotional states and environments in which it was created.

“These tracks came together gradually over time,” Intelligenza Artigianale. “They reflect how I’ve dealt with constant change—living in different countries, adjusting to new environments, and going through long stretches of solitude and reflection. They helped me process the changes I’ve gone through—sound has always been my way of reconnecting when everything else felt unfamiliar.”

Sonically, Intermind Broadcast oscillates between precision and unpredictability. While grounded in machine processes—modular systems, sequencers, generative patterns—the tracks retain a raw, tactile feel. Many were built through hands-on interaction with hardware, allowing imperfections and physical gestures to leave their trace. The result is a record that feels deliberate but alive, embracing both the clarity of structure and the messiness of human emotion.
