High Tide from Pendulum by Chelsie Malynn

It was an eventful time
and I wish I would have known
just how much that it would mean to me.
I would have paid a bit more attention, but
I was too wrapped up in
doing before I thought
in speaking what I thought
I guess that's why it became
what it became to me.

Yeah, sure
I can still remember
picking up a shell and placing it
up to my ear so I could hear
the moon pulling on the water.
Though I must admit there are
some things I can't recall
between that strange transition
from the summer to the fall.

For instance,
why weren't you next to me when i woke up this morning?

Took me a while of
standing on the sand in stillness to notice
the tides changing.
At first I was in denial
then after a while
it seemed clear that I was never meant to
stay here for long anyway.
All I can remember is everything seeming fine
at the beginning of the summertime.
