Addictive Properties

I want to get high.
Not because I need to.
But simply because I’m bored.

Bored of this.
Bored of that.
Even bored of you.

Oh don’t worry.
I am also completely and utterly bored with myself.
In fact when I woke up this afternoon I purposely did not look in the mirror because I knew I was still holding a grudge from the night before when I was somebody else.

Phone died. White screen of death.
Cable bill is due and I only have five dollars and twenty cents to my name.
Don’t worry though I refuse to feel sorry for myself because what good would it do?

I want to get high.
I’d even settle for some skunk weed.
I just need something to take the edge off of everything and at this point I still believe pot is better than bullets or hanging or whatever other form of suicide is all the rage during these broken days and nights.

Bored of nothingness.
Bored of somethingness.
Even bored of chocolate and "The Rainbow Connection."
