Sprout by Chalk Dinosaur

"Sprout: to begin to grow; shoot forth, as a plant from a seed. Sprout seems to be the perfect fitting title for this collection of songs. In its fourth iteration, Chalk Dinosaur is represented on this album as a four-piece: John O'Hallaron (guitar, keys, vocals), Nick O'Hallaron (drums), Andrew Belcastro (bass), and Jon Henderson (guitar). The 11 tracks are a culmination of deep collaboration, personal growth, chance taking, artistic passion, and newly formed friendships. For such a diverse body of work, each new idea took root quickly and sprouted into the sonic creations they are today through uninhibited group improvisation and meticulous care and attention to detail. From triumphant highs to wistful lows, manic elation to introspective searching, moments of tension to moments of connected clarity, each song carries a different theme from one to the next, inviting and encouraging the listener to take a journey through a wide range of emotional responses that make up the human experience. "I've been making and playing music with Nick and Andrew since we were really young, probably for about 12-15 years at this point. We met Jon about two years ago and really connected with him on every level. Every jam session seemed to produce a lot of new musical ideas and this album is the harvesting of those.
