Old Soul by Cashlin

Old Soul is an existential exegesis of experimental and lofi approaches applied to a rap and Hip Hop sound that has been mutated with and steeped in pop realities and is largely focused around themes for each song rather than the "freestyle" form that originated before the term came to mean lyrics made on the fly as they were rapped, allowing the songs to convey more fully and concise messages, themes about life and society, and even anger, sarcasm, and cultural and lifestyle references and perspectives veiled in tongue-in-cheek and awkward moments of brevity. This transformation also allows the tracks to recognize the synthetic and electronic basis of the Hip Hop sound without samples and more fully accept its similarity to electronic music as a genre. The instrument and vocal layering and combination is often experimental, but doesn't restrain the songs from their unique new explorations across lofi, bedroom pop, outsider music, and rap as a folk music like delivery device for the stories of each songs mood.
