Lyrics
The Bodach... consort to the Cailleach. The pair were appeased by folk through standing stones of veneration.
The Cailleach owns the domain of winter and the landscape, an eternal function. The Bodach however has a more pernicious role, to snatch the unwary from their beds, or within deep fog, to rob them of life.
Impossibly tall, hunched back, with pointed, pinched face framed by matted and thinning hair… bemired white beard of length around thin lips and glowing white eyes (that almost always appear first to his victims, through the thickness of the fog), this shambling figure is a terrifying sight to behold. His favourite trick is scaring his victims stiff with his unearthly aspect before they meet their doom - to be sure he can claim them, lurching and unhurried…
Reason to his motivation remains oblique. As times changed, folk lost sight of the old ways… the stones of the Bodach no longer see use. Ignored and forgotten - a sad, angry and lost entity wandering the fog, a stark vestige of beliefs and culture unrecalled - a battle for attention lost to the frivolous distractions of modern existence.
So if lost on Rannoch Moor, and dusk falls, and the fog begins to set in…
…you better get moving.

"If wandering moor and bog,
perchance,
a pair of pale lights in the fog
Ne'er linger,
stiff as rowan log
For ruin and sorrow await,
them who tarry
in the Bodach's fog."
- A forgotten rhyme, told to children, designed as a warning
