As I continued to react to the political situation unfolding in America in 2017, and I became involved in electoral politics in general, my ambitions for a third album began to shift away from pop and dance to introspective R&B, ambient, and dream pop. I had reconnected with an old producer friend of mine who sent me some sampled piano loops, sampled vocals, and born out of it was "Slow It Down," and the entire vibe of "Photographs" - an album about the struggles, emotions and feelings during the early Trump presidency and difficulties of mobilization and political activism of 2017.
