Gothic Balladeer from Beautiful Ugly by Captain Of The Lost Waves

Gothic Balladeer: To me this is a magical song of a legendary musician, a spirit moving through time inhabiting the bodies of many different people, singing both philosophies and truths to those who need to hear them, yet somehow always sailing just below the sight of history’s watchful eye. I love those plucked notes throughout, you can almost see this figure walking alone in soft rain - humbly accepting his assignment.
One of the aspects I love is the subtle shift from fairy tale light notes to a second act of a hardened, more cynical nature. The under appreciated lot of the modern musician.

The statue is meant to be an amalgamation of different different cultures. He’s Sumerian, Yazidi, Hindu, medieval Christian and his instrument is based on the Middle-Eastern oud, but stringless to represent one unheard. I wanted him to have the serene face of someone lost in music.

This is visceral music for the mind and body, full of dreamy verses, life affirming choruses and sheer audacity. Where melodic invention meets alternative folk, progressive, world and ambient sounds.
