Minas by Čao Laru
More than three years after his last album (Libre, 2020) - a period in which the group released singles while filling concert halls across Brazil and Europe. Čao Laru presents its new work, the EP Minas, via the label Pequeno Imprevisto.
On the album, composers from Minas Gerais - Ceumar, Tata Rocha, Gabriela Viegas, Maria Zanuncio, Luiza Brina, Clara Castro, Luiza Gaião, Tata Rocha, Sarah Vieira and Alice Santiago (the last three of the Tata Chama & as Inflamáveis) - made up and recorded a song together with the group, in a process that involved development of lyrics, melody and harmony collectively.
Čao Laru is a fan of radical collective creation in all aspects of its existence: whether on stage, where everyone has space for solo moments; or in career management, in which each member has rights and duties in band conduction; and even on laborious self-produced tours, in which everyone has roles as diverse as booking shows and washing dishes.
Thus, in Minas, the group tests new limits on this topic, this time provoking to create music together with artists of different characteristics and creative processes. The album, as the name does not hide, is also a tribute from Čao Laru to the music of Minas Gerais, which, from Clube da Esquina to Graveola, have been inspiring the band's path since its emergence, in 2015, in France.
