I found Yukio Mishima‘s 1960 novel After the Banquet in Christian‘s book shelf one day. It took me ages to get round to reading it but when I did, it really grabbed me. The interplay of the superficial and the deep is sth that especially us well-educated bourgeoise Westerners tend to get all wrong. Take this pumping rocker. The surface is the real thing.
