Beside the church
Where she'd lie with me below the rock
Where the moon shines light
On her face
Just above her autumn dress
Of Lavender

She'd sit alone with Me
Converse of poetry and potpourri
What beauty do you see
When candlelight in the summer time
Hits honeycombs and petals
Of Lavender

She never wore no dress for Me
She never spoke of potpourri
She never spoke the color
Lavender

She'd take a walk with Me
Where all that we could see
Were little birds who sang their songs so sweetly
In the spring
Beneath the tree
On the corner magnolia
And Lavender

I visit everyday
Where we used to run and play
By the hill just past the graves
Below the rock that bears her name
