Sidetracked from Elsewhere by Burst Open

losing sight of what
was right in front of me
so easily forgotten
what needs to be accomplished

I know I can do better than that
I can always improve who I am

keep anxiety in check
at least for a while
it's taken up too much
space inside of us
afraid of what's to come
after all that's happened
it's been too long since I
checked my own position

I'm not what I thought that I should be
I'm still working it out
I'm not done yet but eventually
we will figure this out

we're getting there, although we're elsewhere for now

I know I can do better than that

I get sidetracked but I'll try to get back
to looking forward and won't get distracted
