I have on many occasions in life had suicidal aspirations, but it was only when I gave them a voice that was not my own that I was able to conquer them. In the midst of a crippling drug and alcohol addiction, having stayed awake ’til sunrise once again, I envisioned a grimy, ancient, grinning piece of shit with a bloodied cloak telling me what to do, and that I could trust him. So I took his identity. Not long after, one of my closest friends committed suicide, and the grief I experienced was so unimaginable - so shockingly dull and numbing. I made it through, wishing I had managed to impart my technique with my friend before it was too late. This song is loud and intense and angry, but beneath it is a sorrow I never knew before, and the irony of being left alive in the end of a tragic tale.
