And then I had to wait til half past four
To see the sun come through my door
The houses in the street still look the same
Without the threat of sudden rain
Poking holes in milk bottle tops
Waiting for you to get back from the shops
Skimming over yesterday’s news
I can’t go out cos you’re wearing my shoes

I see a future there
It’s looking hazy
But I know there’ll be chances on the way
I see the sun come up
The seventh time this week
Or maybe it’s the seventh time today
And I don’t think I can take another daydream

The picture on the wall hangs to one side
It takes an hour to put it right
Waking up to go back to sleep
Counting the holes in that rug we got cheap
The only word I said yesterday
Was "thanks" to the man who took the TV away
I see a future there
