Mending Fences from Julia - 1995 by The Wind
This one is about my work life. Kind of an extension of my life growing up and in relationships in general, too. There was this feeling of unease, of being out of sync somehow or of being the new guy and not fitting in. Part of this I attribute to being a gypsy and part of it to being from California and part of it to being just me.
By my mid to late 20's I had really had my fill of trying to please others around me but I wasn't sure how to stop. I wanted to leave but I just kept on trying to fit in and repair the damage around me and in my head as well.
One thing that was new was that I had noticed that when Tina was with me, I didn't feel out of place no matter where we went. That was a cool revelation for sure but it wasn't enough to stop my self destructive streak and the build up of pressures from work, miscarriages and my tumultuous relationship with Tina.

I've always been compelled to write.
Early on it was journaling and poetry, but then that merged with my guitar addiction to become songwriting.
The process was always a bit manic, pressured, as if a large gorilla had stepped into my room, grabbed me by the lapels and said, "I will not let you sleep until you write this idea down." And so for years the gorilla and I danced madly thru the night.
