BRAINCE by Braince

The debut self-titled album from Chicago duo BRAINCE is a lurching, noise-damaged sprint through the outer edges of punk. Clocking in with the urgency of a basement set gone off the rails, the record trades in sharp angles, blown-out tones, and sudden rhythmic shifts that feel like they’re daring you to keep up. Bass lines skitter and scrape with anti-melodic intent, drums swing between precision and collapse, and vocals spit and reel with anxious intensity.

There’s no clean resolution here—just controlled chaos, delivered with purpose. Think Arab on Radar filtered through early Shellac, with flashes of Melt-Banana and the screechier corners of mid-’90s Touch & Go. It’s punk by way of fracture—restless, confrontational, and more interested in pushing limits than playing nice.
