Feels Like from Memory's Fool by Fortunato Durutti Marinetti

I wanted to have a song that exorcized the spirit of classic 1960/70s NYC minimalism and for a long time I had no idea how I would do that. I kept on it for two years. I wasn’t sure how, or if, to bring a voice into this kind of composition. It was only after seeing Barbara Loden's film “Wanda” that I was able to write the lyrics. I think of that film whenever I think of this song.

It was incredibly fulfilling to be in the studio when we recorded “Feels Like” and I remember it fondly: I was sitting on a little stool with a glass of wine in my hand, listening as Josh Zubot built up the layers of violin that are the foundation of the track. My eyes were closed and I was smiling.
