Sometimes the city throws everything at you, beats you down, makes a mess. And sometimes, the city might surprise you with unexpected beauty in unlikely corners.

Most often, the combination of a few seemingly random city offerings will create a whole new sound. The juxtaposition of unrelated elements interact to form a unique, fleeting, and wonderful moment of art in an otherwise hardened and difficult world.

With Phil's compositions, bluelight explores themes of joy, naiveté, anxiety, innocence, loneliness, restlessness, new love, old habits -- all against a backdrop of the perennial, impossibly large, and surprisingly musical "big city."
