Blanco Senex is a Golem-in-Spurs created by Philip Hoffman & Elliott Sharp. There's a decidedly country flavor to these songs featuring that most NYC sound of Mr. Hoffman's singing on most tracks with Sharp's baritone voice making a surprise appearance on three numbers and the sublime tones of guest Michelle Casillas on the haunting Chimayo.Instrumentally, acoustic guitar is covered by Philip with E# orchestrating his own steel and electric guitars, electric bass, electric mandola, keyboards, dumbek, percussion, and drum programming. Comparisons are odious but Blanco Senex reveals strands of musical DNA from The Band, Howlin' Wolf, Tom Waits, Kurt Vile, Little Feat, and Bob Dylan.

Blanco Senex is a Golem-in-Spurs created by Philip Hoffman & Elliott Sharp. After a catastrophic gig at the Lone Star Café, Hoffman and Sharp realized that the world was not ready for Blanco, so they deanimated the creature and boxed him up in a storage locker in Kew Gardens. But now, 42 years later, it’s clear that extreme times call for extreme measures and Blanco has been reanimated.
