Fever Dream by Blackbird Belle

We never let the sun shine
Symptoms always on my mind
We never let the sun shine
Signals always on my mind
We met under the sun
Ever since Ithaca birthed Odysseus from crystalline basilicas
This serpentine chorus of sine waves escorted us to reverence
Severed from rarified umbilicus
Weathering summer storms, we sought out the serendipitous
And every line that I’ve jotted is like Leviticus
My irised eye socket chuckin' rockets from out the vitreous
This bold indifference couldn’t withhold my bitterness
I’m dishing out revenge served cold - like Uma, who’s still villainous
Flipping scriptures like they’re amphibious
Slithered betwixt the rhythmic signals of this significance
My pen’ll dip within the thickest pools of viscoses
Illicit lyricists disappearing with zero witnesses
I guess there’s no evasive maneuvers
From forever looming fate, or the erasure of doomed movements
We’re what the speckle of dust within the groove is
Infinitesimal little decimals entrusted to keep us moving
We’re outta options, its Foster vs. Hopkins
When our Silence is complicit with the block on which they’re choppin’
Whether God, Man, Lion, or Lamb - we administer blame
Preachers prey upon these people like they’re creatures to tame
Is it Heaven or Valhalla’s remains?
I see no skin in the game as different - we’re all sinnin’ the same
A hallowed refrain, it’s tainted by the toxin engrained
Like each apostle’s knockin’ Sisyphus from hostile terrain
Now who’s Running up that Hill in the rain?
Hearing Kate Bush, emboldening that fox in the flames
A prize fighter in a boxing ring who’s gunning to claim
The hounds of love, like the sound of hundreds chanting our names
To feel something - comfortably we’re numbing the pain
To quell the hum of rising riots that’ll course through our veins
I find it crazy, maybe this discordant choral refrain is just a portal
We’re transported from to mortal remains
Symptoms always on my mind
We never let the sun shine
Signals always on my mind (Ohh-oh-oh-oh)
We met under the sun (Ohh-oh-oh-oh)
You could say that I've seen a fevered dream
I sought a soul and caught it holding onto golden gleams
So besotted by autumn ponds of old & green
Forest floors, overflowing flora full of fluorescein
Like growin’ auras from an auroran scene
Roarin’ rainstorms pouring torrents upon these evergreens
Les Misérables - but mi no hablo El Diablo’s screams
Auditory stories of purgatory and hidden schemes
And now we’ve disappeared through years of tyranny
I fear we’re more than nearer to Black Mirrored conspiracies
The darkened eras wherein terror’s not a rarity
There’s snipers crowned on parapets with apathetic clarity
The rhythmic promise of these odysseys - I sought ‘em
But got caught up like traumatic thoughts that taunt us at rock bottom
Thunderous drum sonnets iconic as John Bonham’s
As the snares crack the air into fractals that broach quantum
This is boom bap - kickin’ so hard that the sonic boom claps
And y’all Marvel like the doctorate of doom’s back
Drowned smoke, I’ve broken records like the groove’s cracked
So let me prove that, my methodology is smooth tracked
Centrifuged rap, let it complement the juiced strat
Of scratching out the loops up in the lab to hone a new stack
Of raw melodics, from a Punk who grew up too Daft
A sorcerer’s apprentice who attuned to mystic tune-craft
These magic missile moves are far from mystery
This wizened wizard channels from the dark annals of history
Sacrosanct panels of stained glass in blistered heat
Shattered into splinters to rain down on city streets
Black tar, shards that glitter like a halo downed
Emerald hues, garnets, and blues beneath a steepled crown
Each cathedral reaching down beneath the bleeding ground
To reignite the beating heart of demons who were sleeping sound
Symptoms always on my mind
We never let the sun shine
Signals always on my mind (Ohh-oh-oh-oh)
We never let the sun shine (Ohh-oh-oh-oh)
