Aqua Thistle by Bit-Byte Code

I wanted to make a final Thistle album, but I wanted it to make sense as a third Thistle album. I kind of have an idea of what a "Thistle" album should sound like, and so, over the course of few months, I made all the songs. I had wanted to release Aqua Thistle in July, and even though by that time all of the songs were mostly done, I couldn't figure out the pacing I wanted on the album. So I spent from the end of July to August trying to find the right position for each song. Finally, I finished the album. A little later than I had wanted to, but it's fine.

Conceptually, this album is about getting bored of something that once gave you great joy, and feeling lonely. Mostly because that was what I was dealing with while making the album. Every time I would make a song, I would know it was cool, but it wouldn't give me the joy I used to get when I made a song. Also, although I do have a couple of (great) friends, I don't get to see them often enough, and so I feel lonely.

Track 8, "Farmsounds," contains a bunch of recordings of the animals on the homestead I live on.

Track 12, "The Calm Before the Storm," was made only two weeks before I actually finished the album. It's one of my favorites.
