In lieu of a native musical tradition, BIRD FRIEND's weird, homespun take on electric folk borrows freely from a century of American songwriting. On their sixth and latest full-length album GOODBYE, BABYLON, the Portsmouth, NH/Somerville, MA quartet draws upon the work of folksingers past and present, while also embracing barroom waltzes, psychedelic dirges, church singing and the ramshackle triumphs of high school marching bands.

Presiding over loss and the tragedies of a dissolving world, Bird Friend's perspective is rooted in the foggy, twilight streets of post-industrial New England - a place where history animates everything and ruins are part of the architecture. GOODBYE, BABYLON explores these histories and more, combing back through time with an anxious eye on the future.
