The Dream by The Cats

As 2016 continued I found myself less interested in offbeat vaporwave, chiptune, and internet music. I discovered the Beatles; psychedelic rock; the Doors, who I obsessed over for unclear reasons. A big influence also was Gorillaz, combining psychedelia and hip hop in a way that seemed addictive. Another influence, oddly enough: breakcore, which came to me through Venetian Snares and plenty of odd touhou remixes.

In order to separate my experiments in pop from my past experiments in chiptune and electronica, I named this project "The Cats," and maintained that the songs were performed and composed by my three cats, none of whom are still around. They were pretty old at the time; the oldest was older than I was.

I also chose to, rather than soliciting help from a friend (I was too shy) or vocal synth software (I didn't know my way around piracy,) teach myself to sing. This album is, thus, very hard to listen to.
