Tilt is a song cycle inspired by the seasons. Full of optimism and joy in the colours & emotions of each season whilst cradling a sense of loss to reflect the ever turning cycle of life.

Bertie Anderson Haggart is an award-winning musician and composer living in North Norfolk.

The lyrics are both in the voice of Gaia and the observer, weaving between the perspectives whilst also considering the female cycle mirroring the seasons. Combining different compositional and production techniques Bertie weaves field recordings into the music bringing a sense of optimism and joy whilst cradling a sense of nostalgia and loss to match the eternal turning of the seasons.

"It first came about as a result of THE MUSO MUM musical advent calendar in 2021. I composed a song called Midwinter which was behind day number 23, winter solstice.

A few months later in 2022 the land was showing the early signs of spring and in response an idea started growing like a tiny green shoot that I could compose my own 4 seasons. Move over Vivaldi there’s a new kid in town ! Over the rest of the year I composed spring summer and autumn, I also built a library of field recordings throughout the year.

In early 2023 I saw an advert for Raveningham Scultpure trail calling for installations for their summer exhibition. My application of a Sonic installation was accepted and this gave me the impetus to record the song cycle as a continuous work that would play on a cycle. The theme ‘amplify the positive’ gave me the permission to create something that made me feel good. I banished any negative thoughts and created something that gave me a warm rosey feeling.

After the exhibition was done I returned to the songs and realised I wanted to do more with them and release them as a standard album.

Every month for the next 12 I’ll be releasing a track from my new album “TILT” inspired by the seasons and the cycle of the year. I wrote each track during the season it was inspired by, weaving in field recordings from around where I live."

Bertie Anderson Haggart is an internationally acclaimed, award winning musician and composer. She grew up in North Norfolk where her musical journey began. Known most for her work with Bowjangles, the comedy theatrical string quartet and The BeauBowBelles a swing folk band.
