In philosophy of mind, qualia are the raw, subjective “what it is like” aspects of conscious experience. They are the felt qualities of experiences, such as what it is like to see purple, taste coffee, feel pleasure, or hear a string note.

Introducing Qualia, a new ambient music series exploring the intimate textures of perception and sound.

This series will be a space for ongoing sonic exploration. Some pieces will be recorded traditionally; others will emerge from audio that has been stretched, granulated, substantially altered, or transformed in various ways into entirely new forms. Some of those tracks will blend these methods.
This series opens a wide creative field of experimentation and exploration in immersive, atmospheric ambient sound design.

Bernhard Wöstheinrich elicits meaning from abstraction in electronic music and painting. He has studied graphic design and has created an eclectic body of work in both graphics and music.
Bernhard speaks in his own musical voice; the musical arc of his work often moves from the curiously beautiful to the beautifully curious.
