Sei Freilech by Baruch Chauskin

Sei Freilich - Be Happy - is one of those rare yiddish folklore gems that gets often overlooked in performer's repertoire. Presented here is a quirky arrangement by Stefan Kristinkov, inspired by a style of a legendary jewish wedding band, the Freilakhs, from the 80's and early 90's, active in Northern Europe. Recorded in the New York City this (2024) January by Baruch Chauskin - a prominent carrier of the Northern European yiddish music tradition, a cantor of the Osnabrueck (Germany) Synagogue and a fixture on jewish events in the European Union and Israel - this version is significant in both: the preservation and development of the tradition.
