This album was conceived first as a concert for the Santa Cruz Baroque Festival for 2007, and the album is a product of that collaboration between Barry Phillips (cellist and arranger), Olov Johansson (nyckelharpa), Lars Johannesson (flute), and Linda Burman-Hall (harpsichord & director of the Santa Cruz Baroque Festival).

Barry started musical life as a pop drummer, and now is a composer of folk. classical and ...whatever. He is a cellist in Celtic, American, Swedish, and English folk (Martin Simpson, William Coulter, Olov Johannesson), and cellist in Indian classical groups such as the Anoushka Shankar Project.

Barry studied music at the San Francisco Conservatory of music, and then as a student of Ravi Shankar.
