Neon Light basically came flowing out of a Led Zeppelin inspired guitar riff.
Very early Zeppelin, like from the Royal Albert Hall era. As far as the vibe and content of the song, we wanted to capture the mood of a 70's stripclub in New York City with a dark atmosphere.
Crushed velvet seats, mirror tables covered with leftover cocaine and champagne glasses. Of course, all of this happening while loud music and neon lights blasting your ears and eyes. We wanted to make this a stripper song where you can easily vision the hot girls shaking what they got and twisting their high heels around a chrome pole.
When you wake up in the alley next to the bar with a massive headache, not exactly knowing what happend anymore. It all starts coming back... You remember waiting on your guy to supply you with one of your favorite sins. Suddenly, all memories hit: the girls, the drugs and the alcohol flooding your mind, the violence and bloody brawl where it all went wrong. But what you remember most, are those buzzing and flickering letters on the frontside wall.
The Neon Light.
